NJ Monthly Sankirtan Festival (MSF):
We are International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) devotees from across New Jersey dedicated to sharing the spiritual practice of bhakti-yoga, loving devotion to Krishna. We focus on spreading the teachings of our Founder-Acharya, Srila Prabhupada, through the distribution of his books, sacred texts including the Bhagavad-gita, and the chanting of the Holy Names of the Lord through Sankirtan.
About ISKCON:
Founded in 1966, ISKCON (Hare Krishna movement) promotes Krishna consciousness through devotion. It includes 800+ temples, 100+ vegetarian restaurants, and millions of members worldwide. Learn more at iskcon.org
Srila Prabhupada:
Srila Prabhupada, Founder-Acharya of ISKCON, shared India’s spiritual wisdom and introduced bhakti-yoga and the chanting of Krishna’s names as the path to divine love.
Bhakti-yoga:
Bhakti-yoga connects the soul with Krishna through chanting, prayer, scripture, and service—bringing peace, joy, and spiritual awakening.
Hare Krishna Maha-mantra:
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare
This powerful mantra revives our original Krishna consciousness. Chanting in groups responsively, often in public spaces, is called Sankirtan which helps to uplift the community and reawaken each individual’s connection with God.
The Bhagavad-gita:
The Bhagavad-gita, illuminates the essence of ancient Indian wisdom. The Gita comes to us in the form of a battlefield dialogue between Lord Sri Krishna and the warrior Arjuna. That discussion reveals universal and deep insights into the perennial questions of how to better understand oneself, the nature and meaning of existence, destiny, the purpose of yoga, reincarnation, and the existence of a benign supreme controller. It is one of the most important philosophical and literary works known to man. The Gita’s all-embracing spiritual truths can be used by anyone, anywhere, and at any time in history.
Our Vision: To awaken divine love in every heart by sharing the timeless wisdom of Krishna consciousness through Sankirtan, sacred texts, and devotional gatherings. Inspired by Srila Prabhupada’s teachings, we envision a spiritually vibrant New Jersey where communities chant, serve, and celebrate together—reviving their eternal connection with Krishna through bhakti-yoga, the Bhagavad-gita, and the Hare Krishna maha-mantra.
